Touching the Untouchable

In October of 2013 my husband, Chihiro, and I started a non-profit program called, A Lens Inside, to bring together our background in media and education and our commitment to mindfulness and social justice. We are freely releasing our first short documentary, Touching the Untouchable, via the internet. This film highlights the issues faces by the Dalit/untouchable community in India. If you have a spare 8 minutes check the film out and if you feel inspired share it with your friends. We’ve also created an expansive film guide to support community engagement and education. The guide includes discussion prompts to support dialogue and a Common Core aligned lesson plan that can be adapted for grades 6-12. The lesson embeds mindfulness and social emotional learning. We are also screening the film and providing engagements around mindfulness and social justice. In June we are heading to Texas and are in the process of scheduling SF Bay Area screenings.
